Mr. Snowden Wilton Boyd was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Boyd and was born in Columbia (now McDuffie) County, Feb. S, 1806. He was reared and educated in his native county. 
 
When yet young he was led to believe in Christ for mercy and life and united with the Methodist church at Shiloh being received by the writer. 
 
He was married to Miss Frances Allen Wilkerson October 24th, 1889, Rev. J. M, White officiating. 
 
For a number of years Mr. Boyd engaged in the business of agriculture and was full of energy and was progressive in his business. He lived in Thomson three years and worked with Mr. T. A. Scott in the dry goods business. He was polite and popular as a clerk. On the 24th of October 1904 he moved to Elba, Ala., and later to Opp in the same state where he engaged in the mercantile business for three years. Moving back to Elba, he was elected Vice-President of the National Bank, which position he held to the time of his death. 
 
He was an exemplary member of the Methodist church at Elba. Bro. Boyd was appointed by the writer at one time to tender special service during a camp meeting, He remarked that it was the first time he had ever been asked to assist in any way in religious work and that he greatly appreciated the confidence reposed in him. His help was hearty and efficient. He was a model husband, loving, chivalrous and tender. His 1st sickness came in the form of typhoid fever some four weeks ago, he was confined to his bed three weeks and suffered intensely. A few mornings before his departure he made an effort to speak loving words to his devoted and heart-broken wife, but was too weak to utter the words that trembled on his failing lips. Great interest was manifested by his neighbors and friends at Elba during his last illness and there is deep gloom in that community on account of his untimely death, which occurred at 6 o'clock a. m., on Friday the 12th of July, 1912. 
 
His wife accompanied by his pastor and an escort of friends brought the remains to Thomson for interment. 
 
Following are the names: Rev. J. F. Feagin, Dr. C. S.. Aldridge, Messrs. Y. W. Rainer, J. L. McGahee, I. C.. Powell, Mr. and Mrs. Mrs. Lee Boyd, brothers of the deceased. 
 
On Sunday morning the 14, inst., at 9 o’clock, very beautiful and impressive services were held at the home of his brother; Hon. Julian M. Boyd in Thomson, conducted by the pastor of the deceased, Rev. J. F. Feagin and Rev. Wallace Rogers, pastor of the Thomson Methodist Church. 
 
The interment was in the Thomson Cemetery with Masonic honors. 
 
Following are the survivors: Hon. Juban Henry Boyd, Thomson; Mr. Leon Augustin Boyd, Richburg, Ala., Mr. Clifford H. Boyd, of California. The reaper has mowed down one brother in the bright mid-day of life, but we know that our Father in heaven doeth all things well. The Progress tenders sympathy to the lonely widow and bereaved brothers of the honored deceased.
